Global Trade Intelligence Platform Receives “Best of“ Sector Impact Award

Cambridge, MA and New York, June 4, 2010 – Earlier today, Panjiva, the leading source of objective information on global suppliers, announced that its global trade intelligence technology has been selected as a winner in the 7th Annual MITX Technology Awards. The Panjiva platform, which organizes information about global suppliers making it easier for people to find manufacturing partners around the world, was awarded the “Best Of” Sector Impact award for its significant impact on the overall technology sector.

The recognition underscores Panjiva’s ability to apply technology innovation in ways that uses data to dramatically improve the sourcing process—a business function that to date has lagged in leveraging technology to improve procedures and enable knowledge sharing.  Using natural language processing and machine learning, Panjiva integrates and analyzes data—such as US Customs shipping and other independent data—to provide the actionable insights companies need to vet and monitor overseas suppliers.

“In a region ripe with so many exciting technology advancements happening around us, we are proud to be honored by MITX for our contribution to technology innovation in Massachusetts,” said James Psota, co-founder and CTO, Panjiva. “It is a well deserved-recognition for the incredibly talented technology team that I have the pleasure of working with each day.  They built Panjiva from the ground-up and continue to work tirelessly to add features, integrate new data sources and improve transparency and accountability in global trade.”

The MITX Award program kicked off New England Innovation Month by lauding local development and implementation of technologies in the digital industry. Winners were announced in eleven categories, in addition to several “Best of” awards and PricewaterhouseCoopers Promise Awards, at the ceremony attended by more than 350 industry professionals held on June 2nd at the Marriott Copley Plaza in Boston. Panjiva was also recognized with a Promise Award during the ceremony.

“The Finalists and Winners of the MITX Technology Awards are some of the most dynamic, creative thinking companies in the digital space, introducing solutions and advancements that embody what the Mass Tech Hub stands for – a hub of technology excellence, innovation and collaboration,” said Kiki Mills, president of MITX. “MITX advocates for their recognition and growth, as they are a vital contributor to the region’s economy and clout in the technology industry.”
