40% Rise in Trade Petitions Will Help Manufacturers, Could Hurt Buyers

The U.S. ITC has determined exports of forged steel fittings from China, Italy and Taiwan may have caused injury to U.S. industry. Panjiva data shows the case has been partly successful in that imports fell 13% from their May peak. While buyers have likely suffered – import prices rose 21% over the same period – Commerce Secretary Ross’s comments suggest that’s not a consideration for the case. It is one of 19 steel-related cases currently under review, and is the last outstanding anti-dumping petition to be reviewed.
