The Chinese government’s implementation of the WTO Information Technology Agreement will cut import tariffs for 200 items, including semiconductors. Panjiva data shows China’s semiconductor imports increased 11.5% quarter-on-quarter in July, but were unchanged vs. a year earlier. Import tariff reductions for memory chips, which fell 2.8% in July year on year, could cut costs for local subsidiaries of Samsung Electronics, Micron and SanDisk.
