The Georgia Ports Authority has completed the latest stage of a $128 million rail investment at the port of Savannah which will double its rail lift capacity and boost handling from the port by Norfolk Southern and CSX. Container handling across the U.S. by Norfolk Southern fell by 2.1% year over year in 2019 but has rebounded by 4.1% in the 13 weeks to Dec. 2. CSX’s volumes meanwhile has surged by 10.4% in the past 13 weeks.
