Deutsche Post-DHL will invest $100 million in a new distribution center located around 50 miles inland from the Port of Charleston. The facility will take several years to complete during which time the port needs to invest in de-bottlenecking to support further inland operations and keep up with regional competitor Savannah. ​​​​​​​DP-DHL’s use of Charleston increased 26.6% year over year in 2018 compared to 2.6% for the port’s activity overall.
