DP World’s purchase of integrated logistics firm Cosmos Agencia Maritima for $316 million gives it access to Peru’s second largest port. The port sector has been the most active within the global logistics industry in terms of deals, with 90 transactions in the past six months worth an average (disclosed) $115 million per deal. Peru’s port industry is in a downturn currently though, with a 7% drop in containerized traffic in the past three months following a 2% drop in the prior nine months. Even over the longer-term growth has been just 2% in the past three years.
