Freight forwarders operating U.S.-inbound marine services saw a 7% surge in volumes in May on a year earlier as a result of a 16% jump in shipments from Europe. Expeditors expanded volumes by 12%, partly correcting two slower months, while the parcel specialists saw a slowdown including a 3% drop from UPS. The latter may hope its new LCL services will result in better volumes in the rest of the quarter.
