The Philippines’ electronics industry expects exports to climb 6% in 2016 and increase a further 5-6% in 2017. On the basis of the past 12 months that may prove challenging. Overall electronics exports increased 2%, according to official data, for the 12 months through October 31. Yet there was an acceleration to 7% growth in the three months to October 31. This was likely led by Chinese customers, with Panjiva data showing semiconductor exports to China from the Philippines rising 9% and computing equipment jumping by 31%.
