India Joins Asia’s Export Party With Oil Greasing the Wheels

India’s trade surged ahead in September, with a 25% rise in exports vs. a year earlier being the fastest rate of growth since March. Importantly it exceeded import growth (of 20%) for the first time in nearly a year. That’s a similar pattern being seen across Asia, including Taiwan and South Korea. The growth in exports has been broad based, but notable in oil where shipments of oil products rose 41%.
