India’s Trade Oil Fuelled Export Growth Offsets Sickly Pharma Performance

India’s trade boom continued in December with a 13% rise in exports and 22% improvement in imports, continuing a trend seen across Asia. The rise in imports may reflect an acceleration of purchases of consumer goods ahead of new electronics tariffs. On the export side the growth rate was lower than that seen in November, perhaps reflecting a normalization after the introduction of GST earlier in the year.
