Maersk Hangs Back in Brazilian Boom Month As MSC Grabs Share

The restructuring of container-line operations on Brazilian routes appears complete with Maersk having secured its acquisition of Hamburg Sud. That came as container-lines operating in and out of Brazil saw a 15% surge in traffic in October, the fifth month of accelerating growth. That compares to a 1% contraction as recently as May. The combined Maersk/Hamburg Sud group will be the largest by a factor of 1.9, but has taken a conservative approach to market share with handling up by just 10%.
