Malaysia May Get a Hand from Indonesian Palm Oil Rules

Members of the Indonesian coal and palm oil associations have raised concerns about new government shipping rules. These come into force in April and would require exports of the products to use Indonesian vessels for cabotage. They believe that would greatly complicate supply chain operations and may reduce the attraction of their products overseas. Chinese imports of palm oil in particular have been expanding, with a 29% rise in the 12 months to November 30 to reach $3.6 billion. Indonesian suppliers make 64% of the total after expanding 37%.
