Maruti-Suzuki Looks to Toyota to Rev Up Indian Export Sales

Cons. Discr. - Autos 1179 India 512

Toyota and Suzuki will likely extend their development partnership in India, started in February 2017, to include vehicles produced for exports markets. That has come as Suzuki has become more reliant on overseas production with a 7% rise in global output in the past three months to April 30 on a year earlier. Indian automotive exports have surged recently with a 48.8% rise in the first quarter of 2018 bringing to total to $7.5 billion in the past year. Maruti-Suzuki has had a small part of that with a share of just 11% despite a 38% increase in the first quarter.
