TV set-top box maker Roku reported 38.4% revenue growth in the third quarter vs. a year earlier and made a small, but unexpected, profit. Growth looks set to continue on the basis of U.S. seaborne imports which reached a record high in October. So far the company’s set-top boxes are not eligible for duties according to CEO Anthony Wood. Should the Trump administration decide to extend tariffs in the new year the company may face steep challenges with 94.4% of its imports coming from China including completed set-top boxes (56.3% of Chinese imports) and components.
