The specter of cyber-security risks has returned to the U.S. port sector after the successful indictment of hackers responsible for the September attack on San Diego. While not at the scale of 2017’s attack on Maersk and Fedex it does underscore the need for continued investments in security. The hack didn’t have a direct impact on shipments – indeed San Diego saw a 28.1% rise year over year in inbound traffic in September.
