The U.S.-China trade war is having a marked impact on the performance of U.S. ports. Total inbound, containerized freight fell 7.4% year over year in October, following a 1.2% rise in 3Q. Imports from Chinese ports, including Hong Kong, fell 18.6% year over year after three consecutive quarters of c4% declines. Imports from Asia ex-China didn’t fully compensate, despite supply chain restructuring activities, and rose by just 5.5%.
