Under Armour faces SEC investigation, COVID-19 demand clouds

Under Armour has received notice of an SEC enforcement investigation, known as a “Wells Notice”, regarding its reporting of revenues in Q3’15 to Q4’16. The ongoing probe has had company support since July 2017 while the notice is not a specific finding of wrongdoing. Supply chain data can provide insights into the underlying activity of a firm. Panjiva’s data shows that the year over year change in U.S. seaborne imports linked to Under Armour lagged its revenue growth for North America in Q2’16 and Q3’16.
