10% Jump in American Car Sales in South Korea Unlikely to Relieve KORUS Pressure

Sales of imported cars in South Korea rose 2% on a year earlier in December. U.S. brands outperformed with a 10% increase, led by a doubling of sales by Cadillac. American brands also did better for the full year with a 10% improvement vs. 3% overall. The auto industry will be in focus in the KORUS trade negotiations in the coming weeks.
