The CEO of ABB, Ulrich Spiesshofer, has warned there are “jobs at risk” at its U.S. power transformer business after the imposition of steel duties following the Trump administration’s section 232 review. It has three options for action, none of which look appetizing. First, temporary stockpiling of supplies is evident from a 45% rise in its U.S. seaborne imports of steel in the three months to May 31 on a year earlier.
