America Wants Relaxed Japanese Rules to Continue Beef’s Export Stampede

The next round of “economic dialogue” talks between Japan and the U.S. have been scheduled for late January. While the process is led by Deputy Prime Minister Aso and Vice President Pence, January’s round will be largely technical. One area of focus will be agriculture, where the U.S. will be calling for a relaxation of BSE-related age restrictions on Japanese beef imports.
