Are Pharma Imports Reddy for Trump?

The latest industry to face President-elect Trump’s attention is pharmaceutical manufacturing, where a commitment has been made to cut costs. While it is not clear how this will be achieved, the U.S. has made significant use of imported generic drugs once branded versions’ patents end. Panjiva data shows imports of the four largest drug classes increased 158% in 2016 vs. 2011. Indian manufacturers accounted for 59% of supplies, the largest of whom by volumes shipped are Dr. Reddy’s, Aurobindo and Cipla.
