Caterpillar Gets Tariff Exemption, Won’t Lift The Business

The U.S. Trade Representative has granted exemptions from 25% duties on Chinese exports to 21 products in petitions filed by 35 companies. That brings the rate of approvals for exemptions to 21.4% of decisions made, though 50.9% of the 13,761 requests have yet to be determined. The latest round of approvals includes valves imported by BorgWarner and Whirlpool as well as a range of forklift truck parts imported by Caterpillar and Mitsubishi’s joint venture.
