U.S. LNG exporter Cheniere Energy has signed a 25 year deal to supply Petrochina. Imports by Petrochina’s subsidiaries reached $3.9 billion in the 12 months to November 30, after climbing 123% vs. a year earlier. So far though Petrochina has focused its purchasing on Qatar (49%) and Australia (36%) in the past year with the U.S. representing just 1.3%. In total China represented 13% of the $3.5 billion of American LNG exports in 2017. That trailed Mexico and South Korea’s 17% but was ahead of Japan’s 10%.
