China Kicks Out Indian Pesticide Precursor, Which Heads to America Instead

The Chinese government has ruled than Indian exports of pesticide precursor m-phenoxybenzaldehyde have been dumped in China, requiring duties of up to 57%. Chinese imports of the broad product class had already fallen 9% in the 12 months to November 30. Indian suppliers accounted for 85% of the total after an initial surge in supplies in 2015. That’s left Indian manufacturers looking for new markets. A 158% increase in shipments to the U.S. in the fourth quarter of 2017 from India shows they found one, which contributed to a 34% rise in total exports over the same period.
