The Chinese government has again extended the list of “dual use” goods banned for export to North Korea, inline with previous UN sanctions. Total Chinese exports to the DPRK fell 23% in December on a year earlier, though for 2017 as a whole an increase in commodity prices earlier in the year resulted in a 4% rise. Imports are being more tightly controlled, and fell 82% in December and 37% for the year. As a result imports in December were the lowest since March 2010.
