U.S. seaborne toy imports inched ahead in October, rising 5% on a year earlier for peak season. Some brands have struggled however, with Ben-10 merchandise dropping 40%, while American Girl products dropped 19%. The latter may have been the result of earlier importing than last year – shipments for the past three months were 29% higher. Among the most-anticipated toys “Fingerlings” have led the way in the four months to October 31, with 1,565 TEUs of imports vs. “Hatchimals Surprises” reaching 970 TEUs.
