General Motors will refinance and restructure its South Korea operations, rather than close them, and is committing to build two new models there from 2020. That comes as the company already faces significant supply chain uncertainty due to the renegotiation of rules of origin within NAFTA as well as KORUS negotiations. So far its struggles have been limited to South Korea, with exports of parts (60% of which are batteries) and vehicles to the U.S. down just 2% on a year earlier in the past three months.
