Furniture retailer Ikea will roll-out an AR-enhanced retail experience on Apple devices this fall. It may prove to be additive rather than transformative unless its collect-from-store model changes. The U.S. furniture industry is already expanding, with sales rising 5% on a year earlier in the three months to April 30. Imports outstripped this, growing 12% and taking the import share of sales to 48%.
