U.S. auto sales fell 2% in February, with seasonally adjusted average rate sales of 16.96 million units being the lowest since August. Imported vehicles did better than average though with a 6% rise on a year before. Light trucks did best among imported vehicles, with a 17% surge to reach the highest SAAR on record. Automakers clearly expect this to continue, with seaborne shipments having risen 10% in February on the basis of preliminary data.
