Korean Denuclearization Tied To Trade Tariffs as China’s DPRK Exports Rise

Relations between the U.S. and North Korea have cooled after President Trump delayed a negotiating visit by Secretary Pompeo. The President has specifically tied American trade relations with China to the talks, though it isn’t clear whether progress on China trade talks is a prerequisite to progress with North Korea or vice versa. So far it appears China is continuing to apply UN sanctions with its imports from North Korea in July standing at just $17 million.
