Brazilian meat packer Marfrig has acquired a 24.2% stake in its competitor BRF to achieve “complementarities with its sector of activity” it does not intend to “exert influence over the activities of BRF”. Economies of scale and scope matter in food supply chains, particularly in the wake of the pandemic.
