The U.S. government has granted exemptions from 25% duties on Chinese imports to 101 companies relating to 18 product-line requests. That compares to 1,258 requests that have been formally denied so far. The 78.2% accept:deny ratio may give hope to importers who still have a total 10,198 requests outstanding. The largest product-lines where exemptions have been granted include valve bodies, including those for air-brakes, where total imports from China in the 12 months to June 30 were worth $755.8 million.
