New lockdowns, old problems as two Chinese cities enter quarantine

The Chinese government has placed the cities of Langfang and Shijiazhuang under household quarantine for seven days to control a COVID-19 outbreak. That may have an impact on supply chains that depend on the cities, echoing a trend seen earlier in the pandemic. U.S. seaborne imports from Shijiazhuang rose by 18.4% year over year in Q4’20 while those from Langfang increased by 16.1%.
