The Chinese government may pressure coal buyers including Baoshan Iron & Steel and Angang Group to redirect their purchases to American suppliers as part of a deal – set to be mediated by Commerce Secretary Ross this week – to boost U.S. imports. One challenge is that demand, unlike that for LNG which may also be part of the arrangements, grew by just 4% in the three months to April 30 on a year earlier.
