U.S. pork prices have increased as a result of supply side challenges including PRRS in the U.S. and a renewed ASF outbreak in China. There are already signs of the surge in U.S. pork exports in 2020 slowing. USDA data shows exports to China in the first 11 weeks of 2021 fell by 29.7% year over year with shipments in March running at the same rate as in February. The shipments are nonetheless still up by 262% versus 2019 due to the phase 1 trade deal between the U.S. and China.
