The U.S. ITC has received a petition to investigate citric acid exports from three countries including Thailand from ADM, Cargill and Tate & Lyle. While this is the fifth chemicals case currently under investigation, it is the only one focussed on household products and food rather than commercial applications. Panjiva data shows imports covered by the investigation climbed 30% on a year earlier in the first quarter. Import values per ton fell 9% over the same period, suggesting foreign producers have sought to displace U.S. production by cutting prices.
