After six months of U.S. tariffs applied to $250 billion of Chinese exports there are clear signs of supply chain restructuring among U.S. seaborne imports of products afflicted by duties. Imports by sea from China have fallen by 6.4% year over year in 1Q 2019. In the tire sector imports from China have fallen by 28.6% and have led Cooper Tire to write down recently acquired assets.
