Applications for relief from the U.S. government’s section 301 duties on Chinese exports are proceeding slowly and are generally proving unsuccessful. Between Feb. 15 and Mar. 5 decisions were made on 873 cases of the 9,122 outstanding. All were denials, bringing the proportion denied to 82.2%. While that may seem moot with U.S.-China trade relations improving the exemptions can also bring a rebate of prior duties.
