The furniture industry continues to struggle with the impact from U.S. duties applied to Chinese exports which were initiated in Sept. 2018 and increased to 25% in May 2019. La-Z-Boy’s CEO, Kurt Darrow, has noted “tariffs and associated rhetoric in the marketplace continue to impact the home furnishing’s industry” in terms of higher costs. The firm has a “global supply chain and North American-centric manufacturing” that has led it to increase sourcing from Vietnam and away from China.
