The U.S. has determined that commercial off-road tires from India and Sri Lanka received government subsidies. Tire imports have been a focus for trade cases in 2016, and will likely continue to be so. Panjiva data shows Indian exports of the products concerned fell just 1% in the 12 months to October 31 vs. total U.S. imports which fell 17%. The main losers were in Japan (eg Toyo Tire) and China (including Kenda Rubber). They may see shipments expand also due to the new administration’s infrastructure spending plans.
