Trade Petitions Pick Up Though Most Filers Are Awaiting Metals and China Decisions

Regulatory activity in the U.S. picked up in April, with eight new petitions filed to the ITC vs. six in the prior two months. Admittedly though that includes the assessment of the revised KORUS trade review, and the year-to-date total of 27 cases is unchanged on a year earlier. New anti-dumping petitions remain subdued, with just one new case filed in relation to quartz countertops from China. That case may have been anticipated by suppliers, with imports in April likely down 36% from their February peak.
