U.S. imports of completed handheld weapons and parts climbed 15% on a year earlier in March, Panjiva data shows. That follows two months of declines and compares to a 4% drop in background checks according to the FBI. The increase in imports came ahead of the decisions about the Supreme Court’s fall hearing schedule. That may include gun rights cases such as Peruta vs. San Diego. Historically imports tend to peak in May through July so March’s move isn’t conclusive of a change in buyers’ expectations.
