Brazil 394 Cons. Discr. - Autos 1178 Coronavirus 511

Several of Brazil’s automakers, including Volkswagen and Renault among others, have paused production in the face of a renewed surge in COVID-19 cases. The Brazilian auto industry has already suffered a steady decline in domestic and export sales of 15.9% and 15.0% respectively year over year in February. As of January though most manufacturers had still been building up their imports of parts. Shipments linked to Renault increased by 77.8% year over year in January while those associated with Volkswagen climbed 34.7% higher.
