Consumer electronics manufacturer Acer will spin-off four businesses units to focus on its core computer and gaming businesses. The company’s PC shipments struggled until recently, with U.S. seaborne imports having fallen 18% on a year earlier in the fourth quarter. Yet, Acer appears more confident in its new line of laptops, with imports in January being unchanged vs. a year earlier.
