The Summit of the Americas included, as expected, high-level discussions of trade policy. President Peña-Nieto, Prime Minister Trudeau and Vice-President Pence confirmed the aim to complete NAFTA “within weeks”. The U.S. also reiterated its interest in joining the CPTPP trade group that includes Canada and Mexico as well as Japan and eight other countries.
