The U.S. Commerce Department has determined Chinese exports of aluminum alloy sheet were dumped in the U.S. That’s not a big surprise given a prior positive decision on subsidization in the self-initiated case as well inclusion of the product in the section 232 industry review. Chinese exporters appear to have been discouraged with shipments in the three months to May 31 down 43% on a year earlier. Supplies from other countries have taken up the slack though with the result that total imports in the three months to April 30 were up 2% on a year earlier.
