Australia’s exports surged 16.8% higher year over year in September. That made it one of only four Asian countries to see an expansion that month and it was the second fastest growing after Vietnam. Yet, Australia’s expansion was down to a surge in metal ore and gold exports – excluding those exports only rose by 0.9%. Taking all 15 Asian states tracked by Panjiva together there was a 3.4% year over year slide in exports in September.
