The E3 videogame conference, which sets the scene for products released later in the year, focused on games rather than new hardware. U.S. imports of videogame consoles have had a renaissance in the past year with imports up 34% in the three months to May 31 on a year earlier due in part to the launch of Nintendo’s Switch. The 12 month total of $5.4 billion were the highest since July 2014. Nintendo has ground to make up after imports fell 76% on a year earlier – that compares to the Switch launch though – with hopes for a recovery coming from its port of Fortnite.
