Boeing’s suppliers may welcome reopening after descent in parts imports

Boeing has started a phased reopening of its factories after a coronavirus-linked deep-clean. It’s also faced challenges including the 737MAX grounding, tariffs on aluminum imports and the U.S.-EU aerospace subsidy dispute. Total U.S. imports of aircraft parts fell by 15.9% year over year in the three months to Feb. 29, led by a 17.3% slide in imports from Europe and 29.2% drop in shipments from Japan. U.S. seaborne imports linked to Boeing have also been in descent with aircraft parts and seats dropping by 30.2% and 27.3% respectively in Q1 compared to a year earlier. Boeing’s reopening...
