Global coffee exports increased 1% on a year earlier in February, representing the seventh straight increase. That was the result of a 21% jump in shipments from Vietnam, and 6% growth from Colombia, offsetting a drop from Brazil. Exports from Brazil fell at their fastest rate since July 2016, making it the most consistent drag on global shipments after a third year of drought. When combined with a falling rate of productivity from Vietnamese producers, it is not surprising that U.S. purchasers including Rothfos and Folgers have chosen to diversify supplies.
